Our Philosophy
White Sturgeon
All Sturgeon caught the Fraser or its tributaries are always released in accordance with the regulations. We fish with barbless hooks and without live bait. Our preferred baits are Lamprey, Eulachans, Dew worms, Salmon and Salmon roe. We are very careful to play the sturgeon quickly to reduce stress.
Sharks
We do not target sharks directly. The Thresher Shark caught in 2015 was hooked by accident and on an artificial lure (Aloha Lures Smash Bait). The shark was harvested because it was too weak to survive. The meat was donated to a care home. The skin was taken by local Hawaiian artists for drum skins.
Blue Marlin
We do not harvest Blue Marlin as a rule. Only fish that are damaged or too weak are harvested. All meat is consumed. (Smoked Marlin is particularly delicious.)
Mahi and Tuna
Of course, these are harvested and eaten, or sold to stores.
